One of Aalto University’s central goals is to promote the creation of innovations and commercial activities by means of research and other university operations. We are doing this in close collaboration with the rest of society and in particular with companies.
In terms of developing multidisciplinary operating environments, we are moving into a new phase and making them a broader and more integral part of research and teaching activities. We are building facilities that support concrete collaboration between the university and companies at the heart of Otaniemi. For example, this so-called innovation hub will be home to a next generation Design Factory, with activities covering functions related to the service sector, media industry and health technology. The hub will also be the site of a centre for digitalisation research, experimentation and teaching, which, among other things, will offer a functional environment for industrial internet development work.
We are turning Otaniemi into a cluster of innovation, where science and art meet technology and business. We invite domestic and international companies and communities to join us there.
When developing the innovation hub, we will also be focusing on supplementary services so that it is easier for different stakeholders to collaborate with the university and each other. The innovation hub is located next to the nearly completed Aalto University metro station.
